Orange County, CA is home to some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world. From stunning beaches to towering mountains, it offers an oasis for those who are looking to reduce their anxiety and find peace of mind. Nature is known to be one of the best ways to heal from stress and anxiety.
In my last blog, I talked about the book “The Nature Fix” and how it outlines the benefits of being in nature and how to get there. But what are the best places to go in Orange County, CA if you’re looking for a nature fix? I have just the list of places for you!
First, let’s start with Crystal Cove. I personally prefer the old part of Crystal Cove, where you can find a restaurant called The Beachcomber. This beach-side eatery serves up delicious and affordable lunches that won’t break the bank (just 20 bucks for lunch!). Plus, there are plenty of hiking trails surrounding The Beachcomber that will help you get your nature fix.
You can make a day of hiking the trails in Crystal Cove and then going to The Beachcomber for lunch or dinner. It’s a great way to reset your mind and reduce your anxiety. With Crystal Coves’ rolling surf, deeply wooded canyons, and sandy beaches, it’s the perfect place to take in some nature and relax.
Treasure Island Beach
Next, let’s look at Treasure Island Beach, which is also known as Laguna’s hidden gem. This beach is quite long and stretches all the way to Aliso Creek in the south. It is well known for snorkeling and exploring the tucked-away coves to the north. Kind of gives off piratey vibes, doesn’t it?
At Treasure Island Beach, you can enjoy a number of activities. You can take long peaceful walks along the shore, relax in the sun, sit and watch the waves, or swim and explore the coves. The further you walk from the main access point, the more space you will have for yourself. Not only is this beach beautiful but it’s a great way to clear your head and relax. Practicing mindfulness will not be difficult here!
Last but certainly not least, let’s talk about Laguna Beach. This is a vibrant town that is home to an artist community, the famous Laguna Beach Art Festivals in the summer, and Urth Caffé. I will be honest, I frequent Laguna Beach myself around summertime to enjoy the variety of events and art. Plus, the delicious organic coffee and tea from Urth Caffé is an added bonus.
This charming beach city offers a variety of events, art, and shows like the Sawdust Festival, which is full of art and crafts. But the highlight of Laguna Beach is definitely the Pageant of the Masters. It also has art but more so high-end art but the real draw is the show that takes place at 8:30 p.m. every night in the summer. It’s where they recreate pieces of art with real people! It’s definitely worth a visit, and if you’re looking for a place to relax and admire beautiful art, this is your spot.
Laguna Beach is just 20 minutes away from my office at Moxie Family Therapy
I can understand why so many people go there for its events, obviously since I do too, but it’s a great place to relax, clear your head, and get your creative juices flowing. On my birthday, I actually made a whole day of going to Laguna Beach. My friends and I started our morning at Urth Caffé for their delicious coffee and scones then walked around downtown Laguna.
Afterward, we drove up to Crystal cove and then had lunch at The Beachcomber. After, watching the sunset, we walked to the Pageant of the Masters where the live shows would start later. It was a great way to celebrate my birthday but also get my nature fix. If you’re looking for some serenity and relaxation, Laguna Beach is definitely the place to go.
Whether you’re looking for crystal clear waters, wooded trails, or vibrant art shows, Orange County has something for everyone. I hope this blog gave you some ideas of the best places to go if you’re looking to calm your anxiety and get in touch with nature. So, next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, hit the road to one of these beautiful places in Orange County! Don’t forget to bring a friend, or go solo, and get your nature fix!
